ADDITIONAL COMMENTS Jacinto Cavazos and wife Leonor Sanchez migrated to Sunnyside, WA from the Rio Grande Valley Texas via Guadalupe Arizona, where they left beautiful friends. Arriving in Sunnyside early spring of 1953, the asparagus fields with the shades of green were waiting. The family worked in the sugar beets, hops, onions, and strawberries fields. Later conquering the orchards of apples, peaches, cherries and pears. Between 1953-1956, the family spent the winters in Guadalupe, Arizona and the rest of the year in Sunnyside, WA. The year of 1956 after a close call with the voladeros de Las Vegas, the family called it quits to winter migration. The further the family traveled after the crops was Gracie and Blackfoot, Idaho, Madras and Culver, Oregon. The family has wonderful memories of those travels with friends such as Antonio Daniel, Sr. and family, Jose Rocha and family, Don Pablo Gonzalez and family, and many more. The 70's brought change, Family members no longer work in the fields. Now its warehouses, schools, truck drivers, and city employees, etc. Travel now is done in the skies. But the memories are always with us.
