Biography
Tejano Skyz is a tightknit group of dedicated musicians. The band consists of three
brothers Gabe, Saul, Jose and their father Jesus Rocha. The band originated from Moses
Lake a small town centrally located in Eastern Washington. There they played for
quincenearas, weddings, parties etc., for nearly 10 years.
At the beginning of their career, Tejano Skyz toured in Washington for the Washington
State Arts Commission playing around the state educating students about Tejano Music.
Tejano Skyz has opened up for bands such as Los Garcia Bros, Carlos y Los Cachorros,
Jaime DeAnda and The Hometown Boys. Their biggest event to date will come in August
2005 where they will perform at The Tejano Vegas Showcase in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Despite only playing in the Pacific Northwest, each band member has many years
experience on their instruments.
Gabe has been playing the bajo sexto for over 13 years, and is the lead vocal for the
band. Saul has been playing the bass guitar for nearly 13 years, and has progressed to
the drums where he has been for the last 5 years, along with backup vocals. Jose has
been playing the accordion for the last 5 years with the group. Jesus is the influential
center of Tejano Skyz and brings forward his undeniable musical talent of the guitar, bass,
and bajo sexto to Tejano Music. His continuing influence is obvious and shows through his
multi-talented sons, who make up an important part of the conjunto. Self taught, Jesus
learned to play the guitar and bajo sexto at the age of 13. In February 2003, Jesus was
nominated for the "Pacific Northwest Lifetime Achievement Award" and was honored to
win. The next conjunto to watch out for from the Pacific Northwest is Tejano Skyz.
